Job Title:                             Collections Specialist

Reports to:                         Manager, Billing and Collections

FLSA Status:                       Non-exempt

Department:                      Customer Care

 

Summary:

 

This position is responsible for contacting customers to arrange payment of past due account balances to reduce non-pay disconnect churn.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

 

  • Contacts assigned customers on outbound calls to arrange payment of past due account balances.
  • Accepts inbound calls from Vast customers to arrange payments.
  • Follows credit & collections processes and procedures and negotiates payment terms within policies.
  • Refers special credit arrangements, escalations, and high-level problematic accounts to Manager for resolution.
  • Coordinates with other departments on credit, collections and customer issues as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures and amounts using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and solve practical problems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Education/Experience: 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • One to two years of related experience in credit and collections preferred

 

 

Computer Skills:

 

  • Ability to use Word processing, Internet software and e-mail.
  • Must be capable of becoming proficient in the use of the billing system and tools used to support the customer (training provided).

  • Must be able to perform computer functions and operate routine office equipment.
